The powder adds negligible volume at these masses, so the water you add is the volume you get. A U-100 syringe is assumed: 100 units = 1 mL, so 1 unit = 0.01 mL.

What the numbers mean

Three quantities, and only one of them is on the label.

Vial strengththe labelThe label states what the vendor says is in there. A certificate of analysis with measured net content is what confirms it — and a vial labelled 50 mg that measures 45 mg is a ten percent price increase nobody announced.
Water volumeyou choose itIt is arbitrary, and it sets the concentration entirely. More water is not more or less peptide — it only changes how many units of the syringe a given amount occupies.

The step people get wrong

Concentration is a ratio, and ratios are where mental arithmetic fails quietly. The same 10 mg vial is 10000 mcg per mL with 1 mL of water and 3333 mcg per mL with 3 mL — the vial has not changed, but the number of syringe units for the same amount has tripled. Neither setup is more correct. The error is carrying a units figure learned under one dilution across to a vial reconstituted under another.

The second common error is treating units as a mass. Units are a volume marking on a syringe barrel. They mean nothing about peptide content until you know the dilution, which is exactly the number this tool makes explicit.

Questions we get

How do you calculate peptide concentration after reconstitution?

Concentration is vial strength divided by the volume of bacteriostatic water added. A 10 mg vial reconstituted with 2 mL gives 5 mg per mL, which is 5000 mcg per mL. The powder adds negligible volume at these masses, so the water volume is the volume.

What is a unit on an insulin syringe?

On a U-100 syringe, 100 units equals 1 mL, so one unit is 0.01 mL. A unit is a volume marking, not a mass. How much peptide sits in one unit depends entirely on how much bacteriostatic water was used.

Does this tell me what dose to take?
